Dionysus Moss Lamb Choker
Keimfleck's Dionysus Collection is inspired by the symbolic themes of drama, ecstasy, harvest, and revelry associated with Dionysus, the god of wine in ancient Greek mythology. The collection features three accessory pieces: Golden Goblet, Semele, and Lamb.
Dionysus was the son of Zeus and Semele, a princess of Thebes. Zeus was enamored by Semele’s beauty, which provoked the jealousy of his wife, Hera. Disguising herself as Semele’s handmaiden, Hera deceitfully urged the princess to ask Zeus to reveal his true divine form as proof of his love. Bound by his promise, Zeus appeared before Semele in his full godly splendor, but his divine radiance was fatal to mortals. Unable to withstand the overwhelming power, Semele perished in lightning and fire. However, Zeus managed to save the unborn child from her womb, sewing him into his own thigh until he reached full term. Because he was born twice, Dionysus’ name in ancient Greek carries the meaning “the twice-born”.
In mythology, Dionysus sometimes appeared in different forms, including that of a ram, symbolizing nature, animalistic instinct, and fertility. In Dionysian worship, lambs were also commonly chosen as sacrificial animals. This "Lamb" scarf-choker is crafted entirely by hand using plush fabric, satin, and pearls. It is available in four different color variations, each embroidered with golden goblets and grapes as decorative motifs.
