Karen Wu, daughter of Chinese immigrants, was born and raised in the great metropolis of São Paulo. She had artistic and creative inclinations since early on, finding her vocation for design in teenage years. She gained experience working with fashion in New York, Shanghai and came back to São Paulo in 2017. In her hometown, Karen specialized in metalsmithing at Istituto Europeo di Design and worked as a metalsmith and casting assistant in downtown São Paulo, until launching her own brand in 2019.

Wu Atelier was founded with the aim of presenting an authentic vision for contemporary Brazilian jewelry. The pieces are all uniquely handcrafted by Karen, using traditional forging and casting techniques, as well as alternative methods such as electroforming and sculpting.
