Gåta is a puzzle, a riddle, a conundrum, and a cat. It is also a Melbourne-based label founded by two best friends in 2021, or two girls in 2014. The brand is a physical manifestation of co-owners Edie Carroll and Cinoo Lee’s long-lived friendship. Shared memories are embedded into products, presenting an ode to perceptive but naïve lightness and laughter. Episodic releases write a diary recording zeitgeists of the girls lives and lives around them. Completed entirely by Gåta’s four hands, runs are sweet and short, and reflect spontaneous desires to collaborate on something fun and true. Practising within an ever-evolving scene, Gåta aims to continue acting as a puzzle waiting to be solved. Indeed, change is inevitable; but Gåta is forever.
