Mortica is a New York-based brand founded by textile designer Liv Masterson in 2021. The brand began as an upcycling project to bring new life to discarded material. Derived from the Latin word ‘mort’ for rebirth, Mortica centers on this tenet: deconstructing and reimagining material, pattern, and form as a metaphor for social and ecological systems. 

Mortica studio honors the intimate processes of traditional textile craft and bespoke design. Each garment is made in Brooklyn, NY using a careful selection of high-quality yarn and fabrics, utilizing deadstock and upcycled materials wherever possible.
