Thora Stefansdottir

Stefansdottir grew up surrounded by textile artists and has a deep appreciation for making material from scratch. Her innate sensitivity is as intrinsic as her relationship with fabric, the creative process often becoming personal and obsessive. Stefansdottir physically puts herself into the collections by printing garments with graphics of herself scantily clad on the fabrics. They expose how she scrutinised her body when she was younger, now, extinguishing any self-criticism in a vivid rainbow of fabrics. Described as ‘therapeutic clothing’ by the designer, each piece was designed to evoke healing and self-respect. The collections she creates are heavily print based, the print coming from vulnerability and thoughts around body image. The brand stands for body positivity and expression, encouraging others to find themselves in the clothes, to feel comfortable and confident.
